About Resposaire

Funeral pricing is deliberately hard to see. Most funeral homes still don't post prices online, and families are usually shopping at the worst possible moment — grieving, rushed, and unsure what's normal. Resposaire exists to fix that: to make what a funeral costs legible before anyone has to decide.

Independent by design

Resposaire is independent. We don't own funeral homes and we don't take payment to rank one provider over another. Our estimates come from published price data, not sales incentives.

We're not a funeral home, a directory owned by one, or a lead-generation business dressed up as advice. We build the tools, gather the price data, and answer to readers — not to a sales quota. That independence is the whole point: it's the only thing that makes our numbers worth trusting.

How we research prices

Every figure on this site is grounded in a source you can check, not a guess:

• The FTC Funeral Rule, which defines your legal rights and what a funeral home must disclose.
• Published median cost data from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA).
• Real, itemized General Price Listscollected directly from funeral homes and cremation providers — we've verified prices from more than 100 providers across all 50 states so far, and the dataset keeps growing.

We label every number honestly — a real collected price, or a modeled estimate — and we never present a modeled figure as a quote. The full method, with sources, is on our methodology page.

How we make money

We keep the tools free by earning a commission when some readers choose an insurance or provider option through our links — at no cost to you. We only surface options we'd consider ourselves, we disclose it plainly, and it neverchanges an estimate, a ranking, or a recommendation. If it ever did, we'd lose the only thing that makes us worth using.

Our promise on accuracy

We keep figures current, cite where they come from, and fix mistakes quickly. If a price here looks wrong, tell us and we'll show our work — reader corrections make the data better for the next family who needs it.
